Michael Pearl, "Parenting, the most important and demanding job in the world comes on us by default. Ready or not, prepared or ill equipped, all parents produce fruit that lasts throughout eternity. . . . The melody or the dissonance goes on and on from one generation to the next unless someone takes the time to break the cycle and learn the skill…of parenting."
What happens to the stillborn baby, the miscarried fetus, or the two-year-old child who dies? Do children who die go to heaven? What about the children of unsaved parents?
This sermon will bring hope and encouragement to those who grieve as it examines what God has in store for departed children.
In two messages Michael Pearl digs into the Scripture and reveals the truth and the fiction pertaining to this understandably emotional subject.
Those who'd like to review additional studies on the times to come will enjoy these resources as well:
A new book by Debi Pearl is in the works! She's working on a book for children about how they can protect themselves from predators.
Here's a quote from her blog:
Cultivating Cautious Chicks - Protecting Children from Predators
posted July 2010 by Debi Pearl
You may have noticed in our latest issue Mike’s article for parents that discover their child has been exposed to sexual activity (WHEN THE WORST HAPPENS, June 2010). We’ve also made available for free an audio download called SEX EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN. This is because we sometimes get heartbreaking letters. The most heartbreaking ones have to do with children.
Yard chickens develop a natural pecking order. Mama hens brood and raise little chicks. Roosters protect the hens and vie for position. At least, that's how it used to be.
Today, if you go to the feed store and get little chicks, you’ll find that brooding and natural mothering tendencies have been bred out of them. This is because corporate chicken farms need to have everything streamlined. This means that eggs are hatched in a hatchery and baby chicks are never taught to scratch for bugs by a mama hen.
If you place these distant descendants of yard chickens into an actual yard, they will be defenseless. The hens weren’t taught how to be mamas, so they don’t know how to teach the chicks. The roosters never learned from example either, so they bully rather than protect. These birds won’t know what to do when a hawk’s shadow flitters across the grass. In the chaos of that chicken yard, they’d all be easy pickings for the first predator to show up. Of course, the chicks would be the first to go.
So, what do you do when the chicks are in danger? You call to them. You cluck a warning. You show them where to hide and how to run to help. Chicks need to know that there are bad guys and they need to know how to stay safe.
That’s why I’ve been working, working, working to complete another children’s book called YELL AND TELL. I don’t know when it will be complete, but I’ll REALLY appreciate your prayers as things move forward. Keep watching my blog and No Greater Joy Magazine, and I’ll update you on the progress!
Of course, you can follow this blog as well. We'll keep you posted! If you'd like to hear Michael Pearl's message on the subject, click the play button to hear SEX EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN,

It has come to may attention that a vocal few are decrying our sensible application of the Biblical rod in training up our children. I laugh at my caustic critics, for our properly spanked and trained children grow to maturity in great peace and love.
Numbered in the millions, these kids become the models of self-control and discipline, highly educated and creative—entrepreneurs that pay the taxes your children will receive in entitlements. When your children finally find an honest mechanic or a trustworthy homebuilder, it will be one of ours.
When your children apply for a job it will be at a company our children founded. When they go to a doctor, it will be one of our Christian children that heals them with cutting edge innovation. When your adult kids go for therapy it will be one of our kids-become-psychologist that directs them to the couch and challenges them to release their self-loathing and embrace hope for a better tomorrow. When your children grow old and realize their mortality and seek to make peace with their Creator, it will be one of our children that shares with them the message of God’s love and forgiveness.
My five grown children are laughing at your foolish, uninformed criticism of God’s method of child training, for their kids—my 17 grandkids—are laughing . . . because that is what they do most of the time. They laugh when Daddy is coming home. The laugh when it is time to do more homeschooling. They laugh when it is time to practice the violin and piano. They laugh when they see their Big Papa coming (that’s me) because Big Papa is laughing and they don’t care why just as long as he laughs with them.
My granddaughters laugh with joy after giving their baby dolls a spanking for “being naughty” because they know their dolls will grow up to be the best mamas and daddies in the world—just like them.
People all around the world, in places like Russia, China, Germany, New Zealand, Guatemala, Peru, Africa, and fifty other countries are laughing with joy because after applying the Biblical principles found in our books they finally have happy and obedient children.
Even my chickens are laughing . . . well, actually it more like cackling, because they just laid another organic egg for my breakfast and they know that it was that same piece of ¼ inch plastic supply line that trained the dogs not to eat chicken....

In the most recent issue of No Greater Joy Magazine, Michael Pearl re-visits some of his childhood memories. He tells the story of his boyhood snake collection:
I never had any affection for snakes, but to catch one and hold its cool, dry, wiggling, body in your hands, and then to turn it loose to slither away to its shadowy existence was a mastery of self more than of the serpent. ~ Boys, Snakes and Men
The article then goes on to give an example of how he built on that childhood adventure to make a VERY memorable experience for some boys visiting his home.
Reading Mike's article can be an encouragement if you are looking for some ideas on how to do this for your little ones. Another helpful resource is the No Greater Joy 2010 Calendar. These cost less than $3 each AND there is NO SHIPPING fee for orders in the US & APO!
Each month includes simple and fun-to-do crafts for you and your children to enjoy completing. Have FUN together all year long!
Michael & Debi Pearl tell how they successfully trained up their five children with love, humor, the rod, and a King James Bible. The 2-DVD set contains the same high-quality, digitally-filmed content as the VHS set and hundreds of snapshots and video clips of family and children, illustrating the things being taught. The three hour seminar covers basic child training principles, training children to enjoy work and homeschooling. There is also a section on winning the heart of your teenager followed by a question and answer session.
Don't miss out on this special! Good through February 27, 2010. Normally, these two DVD's would cost $38.95 If you order before February 27, 2010 BOTH can be yours for $24.95
In the middle of January 2009, we held a seminar in southern California. The three sessions were packed out with 1200 happy souls. We took along a professional videographer and got some great footage. Our evening session, Child Training 101, takes the viewer back to the basics. The audience was great, and Deb and I had loads of fun. The audience laughed and hooted when I wasn't even trying to be funny!
You and your children will enjoy and benefit from this 90-minute session. If you want to introduce child training principles to a friend, this professionally-produced DVD will make a great impact.
LISTEN TO MY DREAM is a 39-page children’s book written by Debi Pearl as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The book is written in poetic verse and colorfully illustrated by Debi and her husband Michael Pearl. It is a wonderful book for reading aloud to young ones. The last few pages of this soft back book include a summary of the Civil Rights movement in the United States and the crucial role Dr. King played in leading that movement.
Debi Pearl grew up in the Memphis, TN area during the 60’s. She saw firsthand how Jim Crow laws forced people to conduct themselves differently based upon a person’s color. She heard the speeches, the arguments, saw the turmoil and experienced the upheaval when Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis. She lived to see the ‘Whites Only’ signs removed. Debi knew what it was like before Dr. King.
She tried to explain all that she had seen to her children and field their many questions. They had never known what it was like to be forbidden to extend a kindness because someone was a different color. They had never known what it was to see hatred based upon color. The local library had only one children’s book on this historic figure. So Debi wrote LISTEN TO MY DREAM over 20 years ago to fill this gap in her children’s education. An unsuccessful attempt at publishing left the little volume in a forgotten corner of her office until this past year when it was re-discovered by another child that had never heard the stories. Debi determined that this time she would publish the book so that other children would learn about the world she had known, the history she had witnessed, and the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
But Dr. King was more than just a social figure. He was a man, a husband, a father and a preacher. Debi’s husband Michael is also a preacher. I asked her, “How will you respond to people who say that Dr. King preached against some of the things you believe? How do you honor someone that preached and wrote against some things that your husband teaches are fundamental truth?”
Debi’s simple response was, ‘My issue is that things changed because he spoke out. This man wasn’t perfect. He was used by God to change history. He made a difference. Children need to know what a difference one man can make.’
It’s a good reminder for all of us, I think . . . . not just the children.

Being a good child trainer and parent is not beyond the reach of any Christian parent. If you feel incompetent to bring your children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, that is no indication that you are going to fail. There are three qualities parents must possess in order to produce well trained and disciplined young adults: cheerfulness, authoritative command, and consistency.
Of these three, the greatest of these is cheerfulness. It is the first and most important quality a child trainer must possess.
Men that call others to arise and be accounted for something more than self are rare. These men dispense hope and call on their fellows to pursue a nobler purpose. They serve as an inspiration and encourage others to dream of more.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived his life in this way. His life is in contrast with others that loved fame and sought to be well-known. It was not enough that the laws of the land be changed; He pressed for individuals to have their hearts turned to do right. He prodded people to pursue excellence.
Not surprisingly, Dr. King’s life has served as inspiration for a tribute written by a grandmother from Tennessee entitled, LISTEN TO MY DREAM.
This work is Debi Pearl’s first children’s book. Debi’s husband, Michael Pearl, provided the colorful illustrations for this volume that calls to a new generation of readers to remember the message of Dr. King. The book was made possible with the cooperation of the Heirs of the Estate of Martin Luther King, Jr. and is scheduled to be available for sale starting December 15, 2009. Watch for your chance to reserve a copy of LISTEN TO MY DREAMby Debi Pearl.
Debi Pearl is an accomplished writer and no stranger to controversy. With husband, Michael Pearl she co-authored TO TRAIN UP A CHILD. More recently, she caused an outcry among feminists of all stripes with CREATED TO BE HIS HELP MEET a work which presents a Biblically based view of women in God’s created order.
It is with this background that she has taken on the task of publishing her latest book, a work of dramatic fiction, THE VISION. She draws heavily upon the things most familiar to her – herbs, rural living and missions – to provide her readers with an exciting tale of intrigue and romance. Those familiar with the Pearls and their ministry, No Greater Joy will note the obvious parallels as the characters try to publish and distribute a chronological Bible comic book (similar to Michael Pearl’s GOOD AND EVIL, now in color and slated for world-wide distribution in 100 languages). In the process, they face peril on many levels. Throughout THE VISION readers are given references for more reading on various topics that give the plot a very realistic feel.

THE VISION is a book about a group of people that come together in hopes of publishing the gospel message in every language. Asher is driven to see the message published – a message his mentor died trying to share. Hope also has a dream to see these things through and works with her daughter Cheyenne to finance the work by developing a herbal berry brew. Local White Supremacists attempt to seize the brew for their own purposes. Muslim Terrorists work to prevent translation of the work into Arabic. All of this takes place in the face of government upheaval and a threatening world-wide natural disaster.
While outside forces press inward, this small group finds themselves stretched to the limit by conflicting personalities and struggles from within.
Each character examines the price they may pay to see THE VISION become a reality.
FROM THE COVER

As of July 2009 Michael Pearl was ranked 4th in the expert division by the International Knife Throwing Hall of Fame. Son, Gabe Pearl, was ranked 8th in the intermediate division.
That changed October 6th, 2009 at the competition held at the Alamo in Texas. Mike achieved his highest score ever and placed second overall in the competition. According to Mike "The only reason I got second was because the first place thrower was better."
If you're interested in learning from the best of the best,Knife and Tomahawk Throwing for Fun with Michael Pearl is just the instructional DVD for you. Mike goes over the steps of knife throwing and breaks them down in a way the beginner can understand and the professional can appreciate. Michael takes the time to go in depth with Tomahawk throwing instruction. Learn how the length of the handle makes a big difference in your throwing and why a tomahawk head has to be unattached to the handle as well as many other tips. See what a knife throwing lesson really looks like when instructing on a variety of levels. See even young boys throw some knives…and start sticking knives into the target right away. . . . and watch their faces light up with a sense of accomplishment.
Just for fun see Mike perform some stunts and tricks from behind the back and between his legs. . . . and a few other tricks no one should try at home (but they’re fun to watch).

This week's Bible Question has to do with how and when a Christian should forgive past wrongs.
This subject is of special interest to those who have been victims of child abuse. Many of these survivors are told that they must extend forgiveness in order to properly heal and move on with their lives. Then there is the question of what a parent should do when they discover their child has been molested.
One resources that is helpful to people dealing with these issues is the audio CD WHEN FORGIVENESS IS A SIN. A related resource that has had a tremendous impact on lives is the booklet PORNOGRAPHY - ROAD TO HELL.
[Michael Pearl] shows how repentance toward God and the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ can break the bondage of this wicked perversion through the abundant mercy and grace of a loving God. There is hope for the man caught in the snare of pornography and hope for the helpless, angry wife who finds it difficult to honor him.
Watch the video below as Mike Pearl addresses this week's question regarding what the Bible has to say on the subject.

Now, there is an opportunity for you and your family to be part of the next phase of developing this ministry tool. In order to increase the impact of this comic, the current artwork is being used to develop a full-length feature film using anime.
Anime is a type of limited animation that relies heavily upon still artwork. Stylistic camera work and the use of color suggest movement and hold the audience's attention throughout the story. Background scenes can be changed in such a way as to achieve three-dimensional views.
Placing this high definition film onto digital video discs (DVDs) will decrease printing and shipping costs to incurred by No Greater Joy Ministries. The same film can be then be used again and again for different languages. Each new translation will utilize different voices in that language. In this way, the reach and impact of the Good & Evil project will be increased many times.
This undertaking is massive and will require funding. No Greater Joy Ministries allows designated donations so that every penny so directed is used only for the development of this video. Children are setting aside coins. Others are planning yard and flea market sales. All hope to be part of a project designed to impact the world for Christ by going where some missionaries cannot go and by placing a powerful tool into the hands of missionaries in the field.

If you're a subscriber toNo Greater Joy Magazine, you may have noticed a recurring theme: Children are expected to work!!?? Only, this is not the work of a person that commands another to do what he could do for himself. This is work with a purpose.
Why would an able-bodied man or woman have a child do something that could more easily be done (and more quickly) without the child's involvement?
Every kid is lazy unless he is taught to work. And no one is taught to work with words or admonitions any more than someone can develop muscles in a classroom learning about muscles. ~ Mike Pearl "The Only Trophies" June 2009
If you are going to raise godly, responsible, disciplined children, you must begin early, before they are one year old, teaching them the rudiments of work. There is no alternative.
“It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth” (Lamentations 3:27).
It is good for the man. As a parent you can give your grown son a precious gift, but it must be given when he is still a youth. He will be a better man for having shouldered responsibility when still young. ~ Mike Pearl "Working Character Into Your Children -- Part 2" January 2003
Mike's wife, best-selling author Debi Pearl, echos the theme in many of her articles. Here's an excerpt from an article written in 2005:
We have a 15-year-old friend, whom I will call Kurt, to save him from the embarrassment of fame. He has taken his high school placement test, and his scores reflected college equivalence. Yet, Kurt has spent most of his days working with his dad in construction. He can do a man’s job in every area of construction, including electrical wiring. His dad is always training his son to be not only a good boy, but a smart man. I feel sorry for boys who are being trained to be school boys, because they will soon be expected to be men, but will not possess any of the skills. Kurt’s way is as clear as light. He loves the Lord, walks in truth, and enjoys working hard. He has been trained. ~ Debi Pearl "The Greatest Of These Is Example" September 2005
Mike & Debi's son, Nathan Pearl wrote about his experience in taking the time to work with his daughter:
As she sat there holding “her” hammer asking an endless stream of questions on a plethora of topics, what I was actually teaching her was that she is more important to me than my job. Work is a necessity, but my daughter is far more important.Today as we sat on the roof, her child-like question was, “What that doing, Daddy?” It seems rather meaningless, but if I take time to answer her today, some day she will trust me enough to ask, “What do you think of him, Dad?” ~ Nathan Pearl "Time" July 2005
The reality is that in today's society not everyone lives in a rural setting or has a job in construction or knows a trade. The good news is that No Greater Joy Ministries realized this difficulty and devised a way for families to re-discover the lessons learned working side-by-side. With No Greater Joy's Distributorship Program, your family will have the tools to begin your own business or ministry as you set goals and move forward together.
NGJ's Home Business in a Box . . . the home-based business program was designed with a twofold purpose—to give your family a unique opportunity to minister and serve other families through NGJ’s training materials, and to give you a viable business your entire family can work together and profit from.
